Towards a different Public Health Practice in Puerto Rico ...
The Puerto Rico Public Health Leadership Institute Launch Event was celebrated in Hotel Copamarina, Guánica, during October 22 - 25, 2003. The goal of this activity was to enhance greater individual and organizational effectiveness in achieving optimal public health outcomes within the eleven essential public health services. This activity exposed scholars to the Puerto Rico Public Health Leadership Institute (ILISAP PR), the basics of leadership in the twenty first century and underlying premises, team learning and innovative thinking, cultural sensitivity, effective communication and the use of information systems in public health.

A group of thirty six scholars from government, private and community based organizations participated in the Institute's Inauguration Launch Event. Among the invited lecturers for this great educational activity have the presence of the following exponents: Dr. Salvador Santiago, Dr. Stacie Walton, Dr. Sandford Danzinger, Thomas White, J.D., Dr. Francisco Alvarado, Dr. Elena Batista, Sandra Santos, Dr. José Capriles, Dr. Javier Pargas, Karel Hilversum, and Dianne Finnerty, M.S.
