Martha Katz Award
The National Public Health Leadership Institute is honored to have its highest award for the team leadership project work connected to the name and achievements of Martha Katz because her career in public health has been characterized by one significant team achievement after another. The University of North Carolina has awarded the Puerto Rico Team whose leadership project reflects the type of strategic, innovative and successful team leadership that Martha Katz demonstrated throughout her career. NPHLI believes that great leadership requires integrity, high expectations, dedication to organizational learning, and an ability to meet challenges for there is not a clear, accepted definition, much less a technical solution. Martha continues to embody these leadership qualities and address key health challenges today as well as the Puerto Rico Team.

The Award was presented on November 5, 2003, during 131st. APHA Convention to the Puerto Rico Team. The ceremony was celebrated at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
