The National Public Health Leadership Institute is honored to have its highest award for the team leadership project work connected to the name and achievements of Martha Katz because her career in public health has been characterized by one significant team achievement after another.

The Puerto Rico Public Health Leadership Institute Launch Event was celebrated in Hotel Copamarina, Guánica, during October 22 - 25, 2003. The goal of this activity was to enhance greater individual and organizational effectiveness in achieving optimal public health outcomes within the eleven essential public health services.

During May 12 - 17, 2003, the ILISAP PR Team, composed of the doctors José Capriles, Elena Batista, Ruth Ríos, Jesús Irizarry, María Castro and Francisco Alvarado Ramy, participated in the NPHLI Residential Retreat Week.

On April 11, 2003 the Puerto Rico Secretary of Health, Dr. Johnny Rullán, and the Dean of the University of Puerto Rico Graduate School of Public Health, Dr. Rosa Pérez, announced the establishment of the Puerto Rico Public Health Leadership Institute (ILISAP PR).

In celebration of Puerto Rico's National Public Health Week, the UPR Graduate School of Public Health and Pfizer Caribbean, as partners, recognized outstanding contributions made by public health professionals.
